THURSDAY 8TH FEBRUARY 2018
6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
No two people move the same way, so actors must be able to transform their bodies, to inhabit the characters they are playing. This workshop takes the body as a starting point for character work, with particular focus on devising characters from scratch, using play and improvisation.
How does your character stand, walk, sit down, pack a bag? How can gestures or physical ‘ticks’ be built into a character? How much can we tell the audience about a character, just from the way they enter a room?
David Ralfe trained at the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School, in Paris and specialises in devised and physical theatre. With his company On The Run, he has performed his work across the UK and internationally, from London’s Southbank Centre to Shanghai Contemporary Theatre Festival. He is also Artistic Director of new East Midlands-based company Serious Business and an Associate Artist of Derby Theatre & In Good Company.
Theatre Lab: A series of five workshops for Artists and Performers. Come along to meet other creatives, network, share and set the world to right. Attend all five workshops for £35 or individual workshop £10.
