Nonsuch, Nottingham’s international cultural studio are thrilled to launch Theatre Lab: a supportive network providing events and workshops for local artists, actors and performers in Nottingham. Theatre Lab was created with the intention to nurture local talent and has developed in response to the needs of the performers, who wish to make regional work and develop further as artists.
Nonsuch Theatre Lab is an open space for all, with opportunities to share work and receive feedback from other professionals. Come along to meet other creatives, network, share and set the world to rights.
As part of Theatre Lab, Nonsuch is producing a series of five workshops. The workshops are led by internationally trained practitioners will focus on a range of topics from Freelancer Mindfulness and Wellbeing to Clowning and the Art of Play.
The first workshop in the Theatre Lab series will be the Grotowski and Plastiques Workshop; Be prepared to sweat, build your core, build confidence and find a strong rooted connection with your body as you train and develop as an artist. The second workshop will focus on Voice and different techniques to improve and prevent injury.
David Ralfe’s Lecoq Embodying Character Workshop will focus on devising characters from scratch, using play and improvisation. The Freelancer Mindfulness and Wellbeing Workshop will explore what wellbeing means within an arts context and how to create a culture of self-care for yourself and the industry.
The final workshop in the series will be Clown, The Art of Play, in this two-hour workshop you’ll experience the basic elements of playing with Clown while developing your own sense of play.
