Nonsuch is 5!

5 years ago today Nonsuch was born, and today we’re thrilled to be launching the start of our 5th anniversary season. Since April 25th 2013 we’ve been proudly creating and producing projects across the UK and beyond to follow our mission of pioneering cultural freedom through unlocking creativity and celebrating life.

We’ve achieved some incredible things since we started out and over the next few months, we’ll be celebrating these achievements in a series of events, workshops and programme announcements which will be announced as part of our #Nonsuch5 season right up until our big 5th Birthday Bash in December (we have two birthdays just like the Queen)!

Our performance programme has seen us create 5 new performance projects for all ages of audiences and for theatre and outdoor environments. We’ve developed projects in collaboration other artists and presented the best work we could find for audiences who’ve never experienced live theatre before. The Party’s Over – our biggest show to date – is set to tour across the UK and Europe in 2019, and we’ll be producing two new shows across the coming year too, alongside a UK tour of intotheclouds – our first performance for under 3s.

Through our award-winning community programme, we’ve worked with over 15,000 individuals across the UK, from projects such as Undivided and somewhereto_ to our regular classes, Home Rangers and NYPT – our pay what you can young performer training programme. We’ve also challenged the sector with our transformational research project Nottingham Creative Youth Trends and are inspiring a whole new generation of creatives through Do Your Thing [DYT] – a new creative platform for 13-25s.

And finally, through our development programme, we continue to run Nonsuch Studios – Nottingham’s artist-led space for theatre and performance, a thriving hub of creative activity for artists and community groups alike. Theatre Lab is our artist support programme which is set to grow considerably across the coming years and alongside our production services offer.

Nonsuch’s Artistic Director, Edward Boott says: “Celebrating our fifth birthday is a great milestone for Nonsuch and an amazing moment to look back and reflect on everything we’ve done, the people we’ve worked with and the impact our work has had. Even after five years, we feel like we’ve only just got started and cannot wait to see what the next five years will bring.”
